"I couldn't stop thinking: What if every journey contributed to conservation instead of just observing it?"
- Peter Balunek, Founder
A Note From Peter
I never planned to become a safari operator. I planned to go on one safari, see elephants, check that box, and return to my comfortable life in Cleveland. But a magnificent tusker named Satao changed everything—not through meeting him, but through his senseless death at the hands of poachers.
Satao survived nearly 50 years in the wild only to fall to one poison arrow because his ivory was valuable to someone who’d never seen him breathe. His story shattered something in me and rebuilt it differently.
That’s why Peter’s Safaris exists. Not to maximize bookings, but to maximize impact. Not to serve hundreds of guests adequately, but to serve dozens extraordinarily. When we speak, I’m not trying to close a sale—I’m trying to understand if this is your moment.
Some conversations end with booking a safari. Others end with a recommendation to wait, to explore elsewhere, to prepare further. I’m more interested in long-term conservation partners than short-term revenue.
