Spring 2015

Our February Big Cat Safari was a great success!  We saw all of the big cats – lions, leopards and cheetahs.  We even witnessed a cheetah mother hunt for her three, six week old cubs.  The Mara was filled with lots of other babies including a three day old giraffe (pictured below), lion cubs, wildebeests, zebras, hyenas and cape buffalos.  Click HERE to see more photos from February.

The biggest surprise of the trip was the presence of wildebeests which have historically only grazed in the Mara during the Great Migration in June – October.  Normally during this time of the year they hang out in the north, but food was scarce this year so they reversed their course and came back to the Mara to feed and bear their young which turned out to be a pleasant treat for us to see them out of season.  Our guides said they have never seen the wildebeests this early in the year.

Only 2 spots remain for the  August 8th Migration Safari. Come witness one of nature’s greatest wonders of the world where millions of wildebeest and zebras migrate from Tanzania to Kenya.  Since the migration period is peak season in the Mara and spots fill up quickly, I need commitments by June 1 to reserve your place.

Since I’ve returned from the February trip, I have shared my photos with a couple of Rotary clubs and the Cleveland Photographic Society and spoke about the challenges facing these animals.  I’m working on a few more speaking engagements and gallery showings and will update you when I have dates.  If you know of a group that would be interested in seeing my photos and learning a little more, please contact me.
